The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has unveiled updated settlement cycles for Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions, separating authorised and dispute transactions to streamline processing. The changes are expected to improve efficiency for Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) users.

Previously, UPI handled ten settlement cycles daily, each encompassing both authorised and dispute transactions. With a rising volume of digital payments, NPCI has now decided to dedicate the first ten cycles solely to authorised settlements, ensuring faster completion of routine payments.

Under the revised schedule, settlement cycles I to X will process only authorised transactions, with timings remaining unchanged. The cycle breakdown is as follows:

* 9 PM – Midnight

* Midnight – 5 AM

* 5 AM – 7 AM

* 7 AM – 9 AM

* 9 AM – 11 AM

* 11 AM – 1 PM

* 1 PM – 3 PM

* 3 PM – 5 PM

* 5 PM – 7 PM

* 7 PM – 9 PM

Dispute settlements will now occur in two dedicated cycles, DC1 and DC2. DC1 will operate from Midnight to 4 PM, while DC2 will run from 4 PM to Midnight, exclusively handling disputed transactions. The NTSL file naming convention will use identifiers DC1 and DC2 to differentiate dispute settlements.

Other settlement protocols, including reconciliation reports, GST filings, and RTGS posting timelines, remain unaffected.

In addition, NPCI has extended the deadline to terminate autopay mandates associated with former @paytm UPI IDs to October 31, 2025, giving users extra time to update their payment instructions.
